In retrospect, I’m unsure what compelled me to put Meramec Caverns on my list of places to stop. I’ve seen a few caves in Europe, including Hungary, Greece, Czech Republic, Italy and Portugal. Maybe I’ve not seen any in America?

It was damp, dark, slippery, depressing and dangerous at times, and I would’ve abandoned after 30 minutes had I been allowed to leave and not been chained to a group and cave guide. The only other thing I remember is the disco ball hanging in the main cavern. For cave raves? No clue.
